Biography

Mela is a 38 year old varied artist hailing from Williamsburg, Virginia. She has a broad background in art, but concentrated on textile design along with a German degree at James Madison University's school of art where she graduated in 1992. After spending a few years in Germany with the occasional cafe show, she returned to the States and decided to get down to business with the thing called art. She gained a background in commercial art and web design which held her in good stead in the area for a few years before she decided to go into her own business marketing graphic design, traditional art, greeting cards and gothic wedding invitations in a business simply called Mela (see [link]). The latest addition to her artistic arsenal is a LeClerc Nilus loom which has led her back to her roots at JMU where she studied textile design.
